Jan Seghers obtained his law degree at Ghent University. After his law studies, he worked in business for several years, including at Ter Beke (Waarschoot).
During this period, he obtained a postgraduate degree in Business Administration at Leuven University and a Master's Degree in Financial Management at HUB (Brussels).
In 1984, he started a career as a lawyer at the Ghent Bar where he became a trainee of president Marc Callant with whom he formed an association for ten years.
In 1994, he founded the independent law firm Seghers & De Bruyn, which focused on companies since the very start. His experience in business contributed to a solution-oriented approach of the cases from day one.
In 1993, Jan Seghers was one of the creators of the international network IJ International Jurists - an international network of law firms specializing in cross-border business and cross-border transactions.
He is also a member of the board of directors of IJ International Jurists.
